Welcome to Penang island!
Hi peeps...
just wanna share my
experience during my visit to Air Itam Dam, Penang.
You know, the first word
uttered from my mouth when I reached that place was – Whoa!!! –
damn good!
This place
was amazing and can be a good place to release your tension.
Because this is a dam, so the tarred road
along the way is quite steep.
No matter you’re cycling or riding, you have to
be careful with your steps.
Quite scary for the first time,
but when you
reached up there, you will forget all those scary word :D
The view was breathtaking with the big
dam, so beautiful and rich with natural scenery around.
Subhanallah – not count
with its cosy fresh air – far away from the urban noise - and so many beautiful
creatures ups there.
You’ll feel so close with the nature.
You know Air Itam Dam is a favourite
place for jogging and cycling.
This dam is common place for people in Penang to
have morning or evening jog, walk, cycle or exercise. There is a jungle track
for jogging and cycling activities.
It is 2.8km but you wouldn’t
mind with its length once you were there hee.
Mostly I enjoyed the panoramic
view more than I jog haha...
This is some info I found from the internet about
Air Itam Dam
- the first dam to be built on Penang Island after Teluk Bahang Dam and the oldest electric generating dam in Penang.
- It is located 700 feet above sea level in the water catchment area surrounded by Penang Hill and Paya Terubong.
- Cost about M$ 15 million with the construction take place between 1958 and 1962 after the independence of Malaya.
- Officially open on 8 December 1962
- The route to the dam passes by the car lot to Kek Lok Si as well as the upper road to Kek Lok Si’s Kuan Yin Statue, Columbarium and the Temple of 1200 Steps.
- Rapid Penang Bus no. 201, 203, 204, 206, 306 all go to Air Itam Town
Here, some candid photos to share with...... :)
